Trample Pictures

This series consists of large-format photographs with motifs selected by Marielis Seyler herself. The artist deliberately chooses objects that are generally considered fragile, delicate and vulnerable, such as a collection of different snail shells or a defenseless baby who seems to be crawling across the paper. Violence is then done to them by people trampling over the picture, thus leaving their tracks. The artist withdraws to the position of pure observation of how people deal with the images and their vulnerable objects.
