Tree markings

As a subcutaneous theme, the relationship between nature and culture is always present in the work series. With the series „Baummarkierungen“(“Tree Markings”) it becomes more obvious: notched markings as messages are an archaic and at the same time civilizational act. Trees as carriers of human communication mark human events, conditions, emotions and needs with their “inscriptions/engravings”. They are visual artefacts that are photographically further aestheticized and transformed.
